The kitchen space inside the house of chef Athinagoras Kostakos had to be redesigned in order to become a place of experimentation and creation for himself and his family, with the minimum amount of spare space. The chef’s private equipment came just into place by organizing the provided restricted area into mini zones that would match his personal needs and expectations. Bespoke metal structures and custom wooden volumes have been used to create clean surfaces of cutting, chopping and cooking, while the professional kitchen equipment providing conservation and storage was integrated into the structures. A grid made of metal and glass has been created as a transparent separative element between the kitchen and the living room on one side, while the desired direct connection of the kitchen space to the backyard, where outdoor cooking often take place, led the design of the zones of moving in, through and out of the provided plan.
